I think I said "today"... Last time I checked killzone isn't out for a few more weeks.
it was the cheapest blu-ray player till this X-mas, and is still debatable the best (mostly because of cost) because it can get firmware upgrades.
I'd be more surprised if it weren't a significant amount of blu-ray players anywhere in the world.
PS3 had an 8 million console sales jump in december obv...
look at that picture.
can you see the extra 15k polys? It's not the number of polygons, it's how well you use them.
Anyone, anyone who thinks that drake looks significantly better with almost twice as many poly's. That said, it's color palette is larger, but it has lower dynamic range.
It's a tit-for-tat either way, but no game on the console market TODAY looks significantly better than the original gears of war even 2 years after it was released.
or honest...
At least they don't let hype go to their heads. I can already tell you IGN won't give it less than a 9, and every site with a playstation or sony in the title will give it a 10. I might as well not even read their reviews.
I'd rather all reviews be too low than too high tbh. We're reaching a point where 4/5 is a bad score? why even have 1-3 anymore?
I don't want it to fail...
the 50 million wasn't development costs. The 50 million for DLC on GTA was the cost of exclusive rights to the DLC.
@rememberThe357
I'm not saying it's a bad choice. I was replying to the fact that people think just because M$ doesn't spend 5 years and 60 million dollars on games means the 360 is incapable of making games that look as good as a game that's had that development time and money put into it.
It's a great looking game, but the fact of the mat...
it didn't cost them 100 million to develop. It cost them around 30.
http://articles.latimes.com...
"The total cost to Microsoft for “Halo 3”: a little more than $60 million. Development costs will probably be just above $30 million"
They haven't even really started marketing killzone 2 yet, and they're already at the entire development and advertising budget o...
lol...
One group is hardcore and will really be offensive towards noobs.
The other is the group that wants to have fun, and is too busy running around yelling and joking with each other to notice which one's the noob.
the 360 doesn't have a killzone 2 because it doesn't have 5 years and 60 million dollars it wants to spend on a single game when it can spend half the time and money on 2 games and make twice as much money.
you can get good results, but it increases dev time and cost by a very significant amount. More specifically dev time, because you do have to pay for licensing.
On the flip side, you can also get people that make really bad engines, or people that can use engines like unreal marvelously. It's really a toss up as to which turns out better the majority of the time.
last year I'd agree because HD-DVD got owned at CES, but this year I wouldn't really say anyone won CES. It's not a games conference, so you can't really look at it like you would GDC, E3, or TGS.
None of the major game companies were especially exuberant in their game showings, but, luckily for me, I don't watch CES for games, and nobody should.
idTech, project offset's, and obviously this one (if they make it open to other developers).
I think idtech and Unreal are probably the most developer friendly though.
is actually one thing windows vista is head and shoulders above XP in.
Windows 7 is faster than XP in it's beta right now, and maintains a lot of the features of vista. As long as they aren't d!ks about the pricing towards people who did upgrade to vista, it could be the next great OS.
killzone cost a LOT of money. It's going to have to sell amazingly well to come out as a victory. It is now the most expensive game ever developed with ~$60 million pricetag.
If it doesn't sell well with the time and money it's had put into it, I doubt many third party developers are going to see much appeal in spending extra money on the console.
I don't doubt it will be a great game, I'd just be a little bit more weary of how much it's going to sell. Some of the be...
Except gears 2 wasn't announced till GDC 08...
Last year people said the same thing about 360 exclusives. This year they have a better announced lineup, and still a very real possibility of strong unannounced titles.
Also, don't underestimate the 3rd party multi platform lineup. I guarantee that (killzone 2 aside)that lineup will put any other lineup to shame.
he never said that...?
so true...
you can spout on about value or exclusives as much as you want, but this is what it comes down to.
edit: I thought I just posted a comment... apparently I replied to someone? sorry... imagine this is just its own thing.
about the price cuts, M$ probably won't cut price, but it will add value.
You might not see the price of the 360 drop to $150 or less, but you'll start to see hard drives included in all models, more games included in bundles, hardware revisions, etc. that will up the value of the console. Sony's still stuck very much in a responsive position to the things microsoft does.
